A few weeks ago we posted a note about the opportunity to make homemade masks for hospitals, citing a local example. Thankfully, the hospital from Concord Massachusetts that had made the request was overwhelmed by the community’s response. Unfortunately, that meant that the link we posted no longer provided the instructions we had referenced. Updated links follow below.
Homemade mask donations
We have a new link to share from Kaiser Permanente. These step by step instructions are for mask donations that will be accepted at their clinic locations.
Homemade face shield donations
In addition to masks, we refer you to instructions on how to make homemade face shields for hospital donation. These instructions are from Emerson Hospital in Concord Massachusetts. More information can be found here: https://www.emersonhospital.org/coronavirus-covid-19-resources/covid-19-help
No-sew cloth face coverings for personal use
Note also that the CDC has changed its guidelines on the use of cloth face coverings. It is now recommended for the general public. For anyone interested in a mask for personal use (only), the US Surgeon General has provided a simple how-to video. This mask does not require any sewing skills.
